Witnessing a friend come out of a dark spot

Cataloguing a conversation with a friend for 5 years. How to train when you’re unmotivated and tired. Requalification sales training. One old school piece of tech I can’t do without. Top of funnel marketing data and how to think about reports. And what was the convo like when they discovered California?

Track pants at a wedding? Absolutely not. a Vlog

What are implementation intentions and how could you use them to get what you want? What I love about strength training is that it increases toughness capacity. And why the Wall Street journal is wrong about track pants.

Interview with OVO’s Oliver El-Khatib

Read the full interview here.

“I try to always remember that where your fear lies is where your task lies. Anything that scares you is often something that you need to reconcile, so I welcome that feeling. I think what I’m really good at is breaking down really big tasks into very small, achievable ones. When you put all those little tasks together and take a step back, you’ll see progress. Beyond that, I think one of the scariest things to do is look within. Nobody’s perfect and we all have our own blind spots. It’s healthy to remember that it’s okay to confront your mistakes and ask for help.”

The Source

The source of a building is a person.

Who had an idea, then took a risk.

Cities are collections of thought, vision, and dreams – but actualized.

So when you feel it can’t be done on your own terms, just look around the city:

Because buildings are all the proof you need.

Wild in the streets

How to shoot 4k and using adobe rush to edit then premiere for color correction and different distribution across multiple mediums.

Honestly feel like I’m on the committee to get people to move to #manhattanbeach

Great amenities. Huge pool which doubles as the biggest body of water on 🌎

In case you missed it, this video debuts a huge production advancement with the sick run cuts.

Also, yes, I got slammed pretty hard on that shore break body surf in.

Family lift

Show with the Moment anamorphic lens and iPhone14. Edited in Adobe premiere rush across multiple different devices. Testing best processes for editing across different devices and resolutions. Why that’s cool is because anamorphic lenses have a wide angle, which doesn’t translate to IG or vertical video. So what I do is shoot in 4k horizontal and then there’s enough data to crop and make vertical. Sometimes I’ll then open the project in premiere to add captions.

notes on procrastination

Self discipline is the personality trait most correlated to procrastination. A lack of self discipline correlates with high procrastination.

Procrastination is a transgression against oneself. And research shows that self-forgiveness reduces procrastination because self forgiveness reduces negative affect (feeling down, bad, emotional distress). Unless we can forgive ourself, we’ll avoid it and the behavior continues.

For example. Think if you said something to someone that made them mad and you felt bad about saying it. After things cool, you might avoid the person. Now imagine if that person forgave you, because they understood the situation. You wouldn’t feel conflict avoidance to that person.

Procrastination is the same thing. Except it’s with yourself.

On making commitments to yourself and not following through. If you’re highly creative, have lots of ideas, and you can’t get it all done – you procrastinate on stuff. It can feel like you’re making a commitment to yourself and not following through on it. No one likes that feeling. But really, you simply can’t get around everything. And if you reframe with self-compassion and self-forgiveness, you reduce negative affect (feeling emotional distress)
