Steve Jobs on simplicity, building companies, and picking a customer

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”

“It takes a lot of hard work to make something simple, to truly understand the underlying challenges and come up with elegant solutions.”

“My passion was to build an enduring company where people were motivated to make great products. Everything else was secondary.”

“You often think you’re picking an idea, but you’re really picking a customer. It’s actually pretty easy to change an idea but it’s way harder to change the customer you’re serving”

A jacket a member made

Allegiate is a culture and way of doing things.

Santa Monica founding member Everett made this motorcycle jacket for himself so he had something badass to wear on his bike.

So allegiate is literally riding around Los Angeles on a motorcycle jacket. If you would have told me a member would do that when we started I would have believed you, actually 😂. But this actually happened and it was his idea!

He told me the Allegiate Chenille patch on the Levi’s Jean jacket we sold was his inspiration so he bought it, took it off, and used the badge as the featured piece you see on the back.

The jacket’s packed with custom Allegiate patches, weightlifting companies, the presidential weightlifting sports award, and don’t tread on me messages.

More so tho this jacket represents how big of an impact Allegiate’s made on people’s lives. This is a culture.

We have 3 in LA and soon to be more.

The geography’s different but the culture remains.

Warren Buffett Said

“Berkshire is my painting”

Also on a trick for operating ethically. If what you’re doing were put across the front page of the newspaper, would you be OK with it? If it passes that test, you’re going to be fine. If there’s hesitation, you have your answer.

What is Allegiate?

What is Allegiate? It’s actually a hard question to answer. So we made this video.

There’s so much under the hood of the Allegiate car that unless you’re an experienced fitness mechanic, it’s impossible to grasp the breadth and depth of how holistic a solution Allegiate is. Just like our name “Allegiate” mashes together of a bunch of different words (alliance, athlete, elite, collegiate) the Allegiate experience - the space, the community, the program - is greater than the sum of its parts. We hope this video captures your attention, works in conjunction with the words on our website and gives you a summary and understanding of what makes us different.

Allegiate is a strength training gym. A place for those who train with purpose.

Specializing in structured, 4-week training blocks built on progressive overload, we value intention, structure, mobility, injury-prevention, and science.

Founded in division 1 collegiate athletics, our co-founder Tim Caron’s career – for 2 decades – was developing the fittest athletes in the country for game day. Training hard, getting results, & not getting hurt is in our DNA.

This is elite strength training but made welcoming, accessible, & safe. Allegiate is a program, a community, a place. So find your team. follow the program. And put in the work.

Because strength is a choice.

And no one regrets being strong.

What is allegiate? It’s actually kinda hard to explain so we made a video to help.

On the content front, we’ve been fortunate to work with amazing creators. For this video, we worked with Nick Mitchell who was a collegiate QB for Oregon state and prior to going freelance, he ran social for @uscfootball It all comes full circle.

Doing your best

Doing your best is about the preparation that happens before the moment. It’s not in the moment. You know you did your best before you show up.
